Ready to Make a Change? See What You Could be Wearing...Soon!
I once read about a study on what area of the body holds the most "sexual power" (center of focus) of the opposite sex. I would have thought the answer for women would be her breasts, the focus of so much attention from men.
Surprisingly though, the focus of a woman's sexual power is in her lower hips, rear and pelvis area!
If that is true, then the types of panties she wears (even if she is the only one who knows) can make a bold statement about who she is, inside!
The choices these days range from conservative briefs, to sensual g-string panties. There is a pair of undies for every type of woman, even if you change moods "as fast as you can change underwear!"
Do you prefer panties that are functional; doing the important job of separating delicate areas of the body from your outer clothes? Some good choices are:
Bikinis
Boy Shorts
Brazilian
Briefs
Classic High-Cut
Control Briefs
Hipsters
Hip Huggers
Workout/Athletic Panties
These may give you just the result you want, in great comfort!
All of these panties are available with exciting colors, details, and embellishments, and in materials from basic cotton to microfiber.
Or, do you prefer a different functionality (reduced panty lines) and/or more sensuality in your undies? Then you should consider:
tangas
thongs(in amazing varieties!)
g-string panties, t-strings, and v-strings
high-cut Rios
These may be a better choice for you.
Or you can do like I have, and have a mix of both groups, and wear whatever fits the situation, and mood!
In any case, you can learn the differences and some advantages and disadvantages of all the types, in the photo glossary, below.
Also, I provide a link for each panty, to one of my Top Lingerie Sites, for more examples (or purchase).
If you have never worn a thong or g-string, you may ask "why would I want to?" Consider:
Thongs eliminate panty lines, and in that sense are modest!
Thongs and g-strings are a hot alternative to a teddy.
They are an enticing addition to a sheer nightie.
When paired with a bra, you've made an exciting lingerie set!
Most men are strongly attracted to a woman in a thong or g-string (area of focus).
They can inject a bit of spice into the love life!
For the very young or very adventurous, thongs and g-strings make a bold fashion statement underneath low-rise jeans.
"Why would I not want to wear a g-string or thong?"
Many women find them uncomfortable, for all-day wear, reserving them for occasions when one of the (above) advantages make them the better choice. Your own experience will guide you.
You can view the panty photo glossary by scrolling down the page; or you can just use the links below to "jump" to the panties you are interested in (I show 10 different types, here).
The best thing about the bikini type panties is that they are more flattering if you have a bit of tummy, yet they are more stylish than regular briefs!
Plus, most women find that bikini panties are very comfortable for daily wear.
They have a medium amount of coverage, front and back, and certainly wont show through heavier fabrics like denim or wool.
This is a panty style whose waistband is usually thin, and rests on the hips. The sides can be anything from a string to a thicker side band.
The front has a triangle of material, covering everything important, and a bit more. The back is another, larger triangle;
the amount of its coverage depends on the style of the bikini, but usually covers 1/2 to 3/4 of the rear area. See more, at HerRoom.
Since they are comfortable enough to be worn all day, every day, boy shorts add flexibility to your lingerie; allowing you to wear something stylish and sexy with every outfit!
Another advantage of boy shorts is that (when made seamless and from microfiber, for example) they eliminate panty lines under virtually all tight fitting skirts, pants, etc.
They also are great when matched with a camisole, and worn as lounge or intimate wear.
Boy shorts are rapidly growing in popularity, for a number of reasons; they are ultrasexy, "cheeky", novel, and most women who don't want to wear a thong or g-string find the boy short more exciting to wear than a regular brief.
As you can see in the picture, Boy shorts (also called boyshorts) are a style of panties cut in a way that resembles boys underwear; straight across the top, and straight across the legs/rear, but very high. They also resemble the style of what used to be called "hot pants". See more, at HerRoom.
The classic panty; comfort and coverage for every woman!
One always feels most comfortable of all in a brief, the feel of the coverage is pleasant, no matter if you are sitting all day in the office, active at home, or working out in the gym!
These days, the style options for briefs are almost limitless, from plain white cotton briefs, to sporty microfiber, to romantic lace and ribbon!
I believe every woman should have a good selection of briefs in her drawer; if you do, you are ready for virtually any occasion!
A brief panty's waistband rests at or below the navel. It provides full back and side coverage.
There are variations to the leg cuts in briefs. One is the hi-cut (or "French cut") brief, which has a high-cut leg, for more side/thigh exposure, such as in this picture.
The lady in the picture is wearing briefs with a waist band that is a lower than most, but not as low as a hipster (see below). See more, at HerRoom.
Smooth any tummy with this comfortable type of shape wear! If you desire a slimmer silhoutte, you can get one in seconds by putting on a control brief; instantly looking and feeling pounds lighter!
This panty does double duty; first as a regular brief panty, and then the waist line rises above the hips, to give control and support to your mid section.
Depending on the style, control area can even extend up to the ribcage, and down to the mid-thigh, reducing the entire area.
If you want to wear a dress that your body has begun to fill a bit too tightly, the control brief can often give you the room, and look, that you are seeking.
You would be surprised just how popular this type of shapewear is becoming, as we baby boomers grow, and wish to retain more of our younger figure! See more, at HerRoom.
This exciting style will boost your sensuality to a new level!
Also, a g-string will absolutely prevent panty lines under tight-fitting garments of most any material, which is a tremendous advantage when wearing tight and/or sheer dresses, etc.
Similar to a thong in front, a g-string leaves your derrier exposed. The back has either a simple string coming off a thin waistband or a small triangle with the string coming out of the lower point.
Obviously, how comfortable you will be while wearing a g-string depends on a few things: the type and thickness of string, your activity level, and how you interpret what your body is feeling.
Personally, I have found that the ones that have the thinnest and softest string (made from microfiber) are as comfortable as regular briefs, and extra sexy. Best of all, I have zero visible panty lines! I prefer them over any other panty, and wear them almost every day. When I plan to be physically active (gym, hiking, etc.) I switch to thongs.
Some women love g-strings, others hate them, most are too afraid to even try! See more, at HerRoom.
With the new low cut pants on the market, this style has become very popular! With these, you can wear low cut pants, without showing your undies!
The hipster (also called low-rise brief) is a mid coverage panty; the waist band rests much lower on the hip than a brief. The legs are cut like traditional briefs, not high/French cut.The rise is shorter, so the waistline of the hipster is well below the navel.
A hipster is a perfect solution for wearing under low cut jeans, etc., which is what it is designed to do. Comfort wise, it feels almost exactly the same as a regular brief.
One drawback to hipsters: though they won't normally be visible above the waist line of your pants (even when bending, etc.) they still have the same visible panty lines of any other brief type panty, when worn with sheerer fabric pants, dresses, etc. See more, at HerRoom.
The Rio thong is an excellent and exciting starter thong! It is a very flattering look to many body types.
This thong has the most rear coverage of the thong family. Generally, about 1/3 of your rear is covered by material and a similar amount of coverage in the front. Thong styles vary, but they all have a steep angle to the rear material.
If you are not sure if a thong is for you, but are curious to find out, the Rio would be a great start; that's why I am listing it separately from the other thongs.
A tanga is (like the Rio, above) another great way to comfortably transition from a brief or bikini, before attempting a thong.
If you have been thinking about trying to wear thongs or g-strings, starting with a tanga would be an easy first step!
In terms of back coverage, most tangas are between a bikini and a thong. A tanga has narrower back coverage than a traditional panty, but is not as narrow as a thong. The front coverage is easily as much as most bikinis, and some briefs.
This exciting style of panty is great for virtually all sizes of body; giving you an ultra sexy look, no visible panty lines, and a sleek appearance!
I find thongs very comfortable to wear, plus the added excitement they give me makes them a pleasure! I think they are a style whose time has come, and their high popularity shows I am not alone in this.
If you want to try a thong,(and not the intermediate step of a Rio or Tanga, described above) then I recommend you buy a few different pairs, and give them a few days to see if they work good magic with you!
A thong is a panty with a narrow piece of fabric in the back that begins as a "v" shape at the waistband and then tapers to a thin strip by the time it reaches the crotch. The cheeks of your bottom are very exposed. It also has a thin strip of waist band, and small (smaller than Tanga) triangle in the front.
I am really impressed with how lovely a thong looks in plus sizes. It is a flattering item of lingerie, for any woman.
The variety of thongs is unbelievable; designers have created some works of lingerie art, with these little numbers! See more, at HerRoom.
